I am sure that many potential buyers are put off by having to register just to buy something.

But I don't think the power that be, at ebid headquarters will ilke the idea.

Then next options could be to look in with your Facebook Id or your Linkedin ID. (all the blogs have gone this way)
Paypal is the best option, because it is so widely used. Facebook and Linkedin are also widely used; however, I have a Facebook account, but am not active, and I do not have a Linkedin account. I do not sign in with alternate accounts when using social networking. I prefer direct sign in, as it seems there is too much connectedness. That is probably not a futuristic way of thinking, but it is what it is.

I have no objection to buyers being able to buy "BuyNow" items using Paypal or Skrill without registering but not bidding on auction items.

There is a very great difference between being registered with Paypal or Skrill (need to link to a bank account) and being registered with Facebook or LinkIn so I don't think this is a good idea at all.

I like this idea. It works in a similar way on my website too. You put things in a basket and they are yours only when you have paid.

This will be a good improvement to Ebid allowing people to buy items and log in via their paypal account. Especially after the mess eBid has made of the sign up process for buyers which puts them off. Obviously, as already said, allow this on buy now only not for auctions.

Actually, by placing a bid in any type of auction, be it live or online, the bidder is committing to purchase if they are the winning bidder. Some form of registration would obviously need to be required.

There are a number of reasons why this or a variation on it could be beneficial. Perhaps management might consider it?
