That really sucks, especially for the artist. I've never had much respect for Feepay and this doesn't help their case one bit.

Yet one more reason I'm glad to be here.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I've has my own trouble with problem sellers on that site. As a seller of action figures, I pay attention to the release dates of figure from Mattycollector.com. They mostly release new figures on the 15th. I have noticed multiple sellers from China selling figures months before the release date as "used", "out of box", and "no accessories." These seller cannot be getting their figures legitimately.

Either they are bootleg figures, stolen off the assembly line, or factory rejects.

I'm awaiting my March Club DC figure for my store, but these sellers have sold dozens since November. And they have been violating policy by having multiple listings of the same item. I have reported these sellers over and over again, with no action or response from the site.

You will probably find most of them are rejects and/or stolen off the line. No way I would trust such sellers either. You can always report such things directly to the manufacturer and see what action they take, if any.

I remember a couple of years ago a reputable coin dealer reported an eBay seller. They had over $1,000,000 in mainly gold coins listed. All with images downloaded from the internet, discrepancies in the description etc. It was obvious for many reasons that it was a scam. A month later the seller was still selling, a month after that they were finally removed, after fleecing customers of a small fortune.

A British newspaper bought 25 'designer' handbags on eBay and had them accessed by experts. Only one was genuine, though five or six were of a very high quality and only an expert would know the difference.

We could all go onto eBay right now and with a little time find listings that at best were suspicious, and probably some that we know to be fakes. If they were reported would anything be done? On eBid I have reported listings in the past, and within a week they have been removed.

The thing is i get the fact that there will be fakes on nearly all online outlets but it is the fact that ebay have got to big to police there own site.
Take the article above if the actual artist said he did not draw them and they still can't find the auction and pull it that is not a good way to police your site. Its like having a shopping center where most of the shops sell legitimate items and then in the walk ways you have shed loads of lucky lucky men selling equal or more fake goods it just would not happen in the real world.

My personal feeling is that if its not a complaint by a buyer, they do not care.

When I bought something that was clearly a bootleg fake and reported it, Ebay was very interested in seeing my evidence. But in the case of this artist and myself, there are not doing to bother because there was no actual sale. Our reporting these frauds is really designed to help them avoid future problems, but I guess they do not see it that way.

Also while I was able to report the problem auctions, they provided very little space to document and provide the supporting evidence to prove the fraud. With the coins, the handbags, or whatever, a experts needs to share a lot of information to indicate "here's how I know this is seller or this item is fraudualent." But they only provided space for a very small comment, maybe 3 or 4 lines.

I really do not think they want to hear it.

It would be interesting to know how many listings eBay have that are not duplicate or fraudulant.

To be fair, they do sometimes take notice, but only of the "right" people.

On occasion I have seen items that I knew were in breach of the copyright of an individual. If I reported them, nothing happened as it wasn't my copyright they breached. However, I informed the copyright holder and they had their legal people send a notification, then the dodgy items were off sale quick like a bunny.

Sorry to hear about the con. Man do I hate thieves. A waste of human skin.

Although I still use eBay, I do it for internet trafficking not because I'm dedicated to them, they are ruthless when you try to get something done that will take money from them, or put them into a liable position. If I have a problem and call the help desk I always tell them to connect me with a person from the US Help support. The people that work for their overseas service, which if I'm right is in Asia or the Philippines, really don't care and are reading from a manual. And if I can't get help with that person, I press on for someone else. It's like pulling teeth from a tiger. But I'm relentless. Until some organization like the Federal Trade Commissions investigates their policies and procedures of the antics, eBay will continue to do a they please.

As for their sellers on the site, not all are bad. Most are pretty honest. But you do have to be wary. When it comes to art, coins, jewelry and etc. I steer away from any sellers from China and a few other countries that are proven to have a large counterfeit population.
