Default Make an Offer Option on Auction Listings?

I noticed that the box to check to offer the new Make an Offer option is available on my auction listings that have the BIN option. I was under the impression that this new option would only be available on Fixed Price listings. Is this some sort of glitch? A listing in the auction format with an attached BIN option doesn't need to be able to include the Make an Offer option. It has always had an option for potential buyers to make an offer. It is called bidding.

As I see it, this can be problematic if a seller should try to use the MaO option in conjunction with a listing where competitive bidding is an option. The issue would be that those placing bids in good faith would now be in competition with anyone that decided to go outside the bidding process and made an offer. Should a seller accept such an offer after a bid has been placed could place the seller in a precarious legal position under some states auction laws. And while I'm not sure about the UK, I would think that it could be extremely sticky situation with regard to UK Distance Selling Rules as they pertain to auctions as opposed to straight sales.

If the inclusion of the option in such listings isn't a glitch, then I would suggest that eBid reconsider its inclusion or make sure that the option would disappear once the first bid was received.

When you tick the Make an Offer option, the start bid price automatically closes and only shows the Buy Now price if you have one.

Quite so. Therefore, it is working just like the Run Until Sold or Fixed Price boxes do, disabling the bits that no longer apply if they are selected.

So if you tick the box on an auction style listing, the listing becomes no longer an auction at all. Okay! That should work.
