Thread: Checkout Improvements Needed

  1. #1

    Default Checkout Improvements Needed

I have noticed that there are a lot of issues that customers (and I do regularly bring new eBidders to the site) are having with using eBid. Most recently every customer I have had who has bought multiple items has gone through Checkout and Paypal seperately for each item. Granted they probably have not understood that I offer combined postage or how to get it but eBid needs to help them with that. Checkout needs have clear 'continue shopping with this seller', and 'request total/request combined postage' and not just this long winded checkout process that gives them little useful guidance. These needless flaws are not helping the site to grow at all.

Yes the whole ebid experience could be improved.
From joining up - subscription too complicated.
    Upgrade fee special, hidden away
    Registration process to demanding.
    Checkout too complicated.

Newbies are newbies and they need things to be simple and easy, and for them to work first time.

Excellent suggestion, the 'continue shopping with this seller' and 'request total/combined invoice' additions. I don't have a lot of multi-purchase buyers, and most do request combined invoices, though I believe these additions would be most helpful, especially for those who are new to eBid.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Best wishes for many sales to all,
I thought they already added a "continue shopping" or equivalent wording after a purchase, and I don't see how it would apply at the invoice / notice / payment stage?

I have to agree with Kim. By the time we get to the invoice payment stage the transaction should be coming to a close. Of course, customers are always welcome to buy something else and start a new transaction.

I can see very clearly from the way that certain people have purchased that the site design has led them to think that they need to go through the payment process individually for each item. I have not bought multiple items on eBid myself so cannot see the process and I am experienced enough to work it out anyway. A lot of people are coming over from Feebay where they have become accustomed to sellers no longer offering combined postage. If someone goes on my shop and, for example, clicks to buy Iron Man #14 then goes through payment, goes back, clicks to buy Iron Man #15, goes through payment etc etc, then something could be improved with the site design. Not only do they waste loads of time doing it that way but they miss out on the combined postage discount I could give them and therefore have a less positive buying experience than they could have. Juilebabe25 is right that you really do have to make it as simple as possible and lead buyers by the hand for them to get the best possible buying experience.

And it costs more in paypal fees so you end up with less money! (I really mind about that!)
