BTW the "gold enriched dirt" is anything but free. I pay over 100 dollars for a small bag. And the nuggets found in bag by me personally, have more than paid for the bag of dirt.

Rainy's asked for opinions. There is always a danger with sticking your head over the parapet and offering one - being called rude or a snob is fairly harmless. Nobody dies.

Being called anything can be offensive. It is no more correct to call someone's listing for a charity "cheap or free or whatever" than it is to be called "rude or snobbish". No one likes negative labels. If a person does not want a negative label they should also not label others or their stuff with negative terminology.

We've been asked for our opinions. Voicing that opinion is not a form of criticism, it's joining in the discussion as requested. I'm bidding on some of the items that we're discussing, so I'm certainly not complaining!! But I do think a limit would produce a more varied and exciting YDC. That's just my view, and I don't expect everybody to agree with it. I don't even have some arrogant assumption I must be right. I could be talking total twaddle, it has been known. But we were asked for opinions and I've given one.

You're right, of course. The word "criticize" was harsh and I apologize. I overreacted to the word "swamped" in the OP. I just have to remember my old mantra: "Write it, take a break, read it, fix it."

And I do agree that discussions like this are healthy.
