Splendid post, and splendid to see you posting again.

After reading all the input, especially from pearly with her common sense input and putting my sense of perspective in order, I decided to vote. I certainly have never felt excluded from the group, always dived in when I wanted, whether any one was listening or not.

I have finally had a chance to catch up with the poll and other things in the forum - and have been very dismayed at some of the comments here. I felt that I had to reply to some of the accusations.

I am shocked to read that some people in the YDC felt excluded and others felt that there was a divide within the YDC. How that has happened I do not know, but I do know that it has not originated from me as is hinted at in a couple of other posts.

I also fail to understand why people are refusing to vote - I put up a thread to say I was leaving and asking who wanted to take over from me. The poll is based on the names of those volulnteers. If the people that you would vote for are not in the poll, then they did not volunteer for thet job so could not be added to the poll.

One curious thing that amazes me - when I took over the YDC last year, I was asked privately if I would take it on, which I accepted. The first everyone else knew about it was when Shezz put up a thread announcing winners for the YDC and announcing that she was handing over the gaunlet to me. Yet now, when I'm passing over the gaunltet - there is a whole hue & cry over a poll, who is and isn't voting, there should be more names on the poll, a divide in the YDC and underhand tactics etc etc etc. I thought I was being very fair to the volunteers and YDCers by doing the poll, but it seems that that isn't right either.

Is there a sense that each "team" should have a representative overseeing the YDC ? Then there should be three, perhaps with the Pied Piper standing up for Team France. To my mind, introducing such divisions into the YDC is more likely to fuel feelings of exclusion than simply having one YDC.
I am very relieved to hear that pearly - I was so worried when I read the suggestion that people from the USA were feeling left out - although I had no idea how that might have arisen!

I agree with you! My vote is for one YDC "team" and I will have no problem being part of that!
