Why not look at the stores being used for auctions as individual mini auction houses?

I think it would be great if upon entering the site you are given a choice.

Ebid BIN's or Ebid Auctions and even All action on Ebid. 3 clear options.

I dont want to trawl through the same new plastic cheapy products that swamp the auction pages of Feebay on Ebid.
Ide rather go straight to auctions, bypass the rubbish eggwhisks and keyrings on BIN and go straight to collectable and unique stuff whilst having fun trying to win auctions.
But for those that do not collect and just want to fill the kitchen with cheap plastic spoons, they should have the choice to bypass auctions and go straight to the £shop BIN's.
Those that do not care either way should have the option to see everything on Ebid.

Fill the place with what you like then, it wont matter.

    Music.
Plato says when the music of a society changes, the whole society will
    change.
Aristotle, a contemporary of Plato's, says when music changes there should be laws to govern the nature and the character of that music.
Lenin says that the best and the quickest way to undermine any society is through its music!

Being that currently 12/31/09 eBid is not set up as a proper store site(instant checkout etc.)
    What is the confusion.
A store seller should be glad that their store offerings would be segregated from other offerings. That is the way a store should be.
    Happy New Year
No that is the way feebay has brainwashed people that a store should be.

A store is a place for a seller to list their items, in any format available, that they choose to use.
Each store has its own url that can be used to draw people into that store, so the seller can promote their items easily anyplace they choose to.

If I choose to list an item with both a BuyNow & a Bid price, that is entirely up to me, if you choose to only use auction format, or BuyNow format, that is entirely up to you.

Stopping me using both BuyNow & Bid, IS restricting my options, segregating listings by format on the site does smack of feebay, & their hiding listings.

I admit some people may prefer the ability to search items by listing format, but that is down to changes in the seach engine, not the formats available to the seller.

Happy New Year to you too, we still have 9 hours to go.

Nothing complicated about it at all. A listing with both Bid and BuyNow is neither an auction or an instant sale item until the first buyer decides. It is simply a listing.

A listing with both auction and BuyNow allows the buyer to choose if they wish to enter into a bidding exercise and maybe not get the item or even have to pay more than the BuyNow price to get it or to buy the item outright and avoid both the bidding and the wait for the auction to end. Just the same as I could choose to go bid on an item at an auction house or go to a dealer and be sure to get it but likely pay extra.

A store on eBid is not a store by any description. It is a custom category in which sellers can group items from disparate eBid categories purely for convenience.

All suggestions for change I have seen thus far simply add extra levels of complexity for no gain.

Most auctions on eBid only ever seem to get one bid (unless someone is trying to find a reserve price) So why not just have a BIN with "No reasonable offer refused" added. Then the buyer can make their bid and, if happy, the seller can accept the offer.Everyones happy.(Or Not!!)

I've had a few bidding wars on my jigsaws and I don't use reserves. I like being able to have both bid and BIN and don't like/would not use best offer.

I don't like best offer - if I really really want it then I BN, if it is available elsewhere I will put in a bid and wait. Don't see the problem. Simples...

Many of us agree with you. This has been a surprisingly controversial topic.

As long as Best Offer is only added as an option for a seller to use or not, as they choose, I don't have a problem with it being added to selling options, choice is good.
    BUT
I don't want to be forced to use a method I don't want to (Best Offer), to do something badly, that I can already do the way I want to, by giving the buyer a choice of Bid or BuyNow.

I'm not sure how giving the buyer a choice of Bid or BuyNow is allowing you the same opportunity as Best Offer, but I have long ago given up arguing about such things on eBid, so, if it helps, I will agree with you.

In any case, I will join you at the barricades, red flag flying, at the slightest hint of compulsion, force, obligation, reduction of choice or any other curtailing of the rights of the seller. Aux armes, comrade!

When the bid price is 50p and BIN is 75p what would be the point of best offer on the item. Best offer may work for collectibles, I wouldn't know as I don't buy or sell them I always set the min I will accept and the amount I would prefer and the difference is normally no more than a couple of quid.
