Having a name where they own all the variations of the domain would be good. Until they can buy the dot com version of the eBid domain, I'm guessing that there will always be some resistance in the US at least.
Rebranding can sometimes be a good marketing opportunity.

Something unique, like Zavvi or, um, how about Zammer? Like an auction hammer, but Zammer... it's catchy and it's got Zing! I might register zammer.com right now actually.

Well, it still seems to be the nice red one. Perhaps the change has been cancelled.

I don't understand why anyone's surprised at the idea of changing the branding. It's what everyone does nowadays. You take a company that's had brand awareness for 100 years or more (such as Thomas Cook) and then you give it a new name, almost certainly beginning with 'A' and researched in every language to ensure it's not offensive to any culture on Earth, you launch it, amid a hail of advertising, then sit back and watch. After a few months, with sales falling, you pull in focus groups and review the whole situation. You hire a new bunch of consultants and they tell you (after banking their cheques, as fat as the previous bunch) that your best course is to switch back to the old brand.

Anyone know what Norwich Union is called these days? Bah, humbug.

It's so much easier to spend time on a rebranding exercise than actually fixing real problems. And it's more fun too.

How about ACME AUCTIONS dot COM? I also like Green as a good color. The color of money or at least it used to be. Maybe Blue & Gold...my old HS colors.
