Default Calling any antiques glass enthusiasts

    Hello
I’m de-cluttering my house, in amongst my ‘stuff’ was this dish. It was given to me as a wedding present 18 years ago by an 80-something year old lady who said it had been in her family a long time, her mother had given it to her. Can anyone shed any light on it please? This dear old lady was suffering from Alzheimers, so in all probability it could have been given to her as a Christmas present that year! Before I send it to the charity shop, I was just curious…I don’t know ANYTHING about antiques, so you’ll probably end up having a laugh about it!!!!!
The glass dish has a blue tint to it and the fruit pattern is embossed from underneath, the spoon is clear.
    Thanks
    Sharon

That isn't a pattern I've seen before and the bowl is an unusual shape for a fruit/sundae dish. How big is it?

Hi, the bowl measures 200mm by 200mm and the spoon is 10" long.
    Thanks

Looks a nice piece! Rather than take it to a charity shop, why not give it a run first in an eBid Auction? You never know your luck! I have had one or two pieces bearing 'grapes' - if I remember right they were Victorian glass.

Hello brishada. The spoon will probably be 'related' and from the 1940s. The colour of the glass, the shape and the decoration should put it at 1930s - 1940s. Worth a try on eBid.

Good point VF, definitely NOT Victorian. It's difficult to determine if it's cut or pressed glass. But setting the piece ( from its style ) from the late '30s to the '40s is right on.

Definately looks like "ice blue". Look for a seam, this would indicate pressed or poured glass. Research "pressed glass blue". I would also research "Indiana glass" and "Carnival glass" and "Depression glass" for starters.

    Thanks Patti
Did a quick Google and the pressed glass blue seems most likely, there are some for sale on the ‘other side’, the shade of blue is certainly the same. Will have to look at it more closely over the weekend and do a bit more research.
