Private issue of the "Vlasna Marka (Personalized stamp)" project from Ukrposhta.
The Kyiv Funicular is one of the oldest in Eastern Europe — it was opened on May 7, 1905. It connected the historic part of Kyiv, the Upper Town (Volodymyrska Hill), with the Podil district.
The length of the funicular route is 222 meters, and the elevation difference between the lower and upper stations is about 75 meters. The funicular operates using steel cables and an electric motor; it has two cars that move simultaneously, counterbalancing each other: when one car ascends, the other descends.
The Kyiv Funicular is not only a convenient means of transport but also an important tourist attraction, thanks to the picturesque views of Podil, the city's left bank, and the Dnipro River that open up during the ride.
