This is a fundamental collaborative work by a group of individuals (24 authors listed at the end of the preface) who were part of the Historical Ethnographic Commission of the Society for the Promotion of Enlightenment among the Jews in Russia. Volume 2 was published in 1910, and volume 3 in 1913. The goal of the collection is to present in chronological order a compilation of all information on the history of Jews in Russia scattered across numerous Russian and foreign publications. The first volume includes materials from ancient Armenian and Georgian manuscripts, various Byzantine sources, ancient Russian chronicles, documents, and more.
