RARE VINTAGE 27 SQN SAAF WOODEN REGIMENT PLAQUE WITH PILOT MSG ON BACK (P3)

Great *RARE* vintage SAAF wooden military regiment plaque for 27 Sqn. The design shows Mediterranean and 1944 and an image a bomb dropping into the sea: 

In June 1944, the squadron was moved to the Western Mediterranean Theatre, where their Venturas were upgraded to Ventura Mk.Vs. One flight was based at La Senia in Algeria and commenced anti-submarine patrols on 18 July 1944. A second flight was deployed to Hal Far in Malta, also on anti-submarine duties and re-joined the squadron in October 1944.

Photos 4 & 5 show a message from 1985 handwritten in pen from one pilot to another. Weighs 230 grams.
