• General Comments: Providence is the capital city of Rhode Island, USA, and home to Brown University. The city has a lot of nice old buildings worth visiting and you can even walk around without a car. There has been a settlement there since 1636. Incidentally there have been two TV series called “Providence” and there was one X-Files episode entitled: “Providence”. This booklet has a fold out map of the city centre in the centre-fold pages. As an official guide it has a welcome message from the mayor: Vincent Albert “Buddy” Cianto Jr – who had an interesting political career – which unfortunately for him did not end well, despite being one of the longest serving US mayors. Then there are general descriptions of exhibits, galleries, museums, things to do and see, places to eat and entertainment. Although slightly out of date now, this could still be a useful tour guide you could take with you if you ever visit the city. Would also be useful for anyone who had visited Providence in the late 1990’s early 2000’s, and maybe had taken some photos of some event or exhibit, but couldn’t remember the precise details of what it was. Also useful for historians or writers who want to study Providence in that era? Or perhaps you took part in one of these events/exhibits and would just like to remember?
