Mont Blanc, meaning "White Mountain", is the highest mountain in the Alps and the highest in Europe west of Russia's Caucasus peaks. It rises 15,777 feet above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence..
Engraved by Edward J. Whymper (1840 - 1911). Occasional draughtsman and engraver on wood, illustrator, landscape watercolourist and alpinist.
Printed by Hodson’s Chromographic Process.
From ‘Swiss Pictures’, by Reverend Samuel Manning and published in circa 1880 by William Clowes and Sons for The Religious Tract Society.
