The circle was founded in 1889 on the initiative of A.D. Toporov and V.F. Freiman. The aim of the Circle was to compile and publish a complete systematic catalogue of all Russian books published since 1708, without exception, and then to compile catalogues of manuscripts, periodicals, and church books. By 1891, a bibliographic instruction was developed. We have thousands of titles and often several copies of each title may be available.
