This item:  A copy of The Greyfriars Holiday Annual for 1923. This edition was owned by the very young Peter Cushing who has signed his name twice in this book (after crossing out the previous owner's name (twice!). In his An Autobiography Peter writes, on page 18, of the first edition: 'As time went by, I graduated from my colourful 'comics' to the now legendary 'Gem' and 'The Magnet'. The very titles fill me with nostalgia...where I bought those precious journals and to which I had hurried with palpitating heart, lest they should all be sold before I got there. I recall the many hours...utterly engrossed in those splendid schoolboy stories...Charles Hamilton, using several pseudonyms...I owe him a great debt of gratitude, not only for the enormous pleasure I derived from his work, but also for his influence upon me as a person.' Clearly the writings are a great influence on what made Peter Cushing the wonderful man he became. This hardback book was the Annual published yearly featuring the stories, mainly of Billy Bunter  and others.  This is most likely the earliest Peter Cushing signature now available for the collector. I obtained this volume from one-time Hammer Archivist, Don Fearney, many years ago after he obtained it from a sale of Peter's books after his passing. Condition: (Range from Fine – Very Good – Good – Poor with ++ to - - for further differentiation) :  Good -:  no  dustwrapper, complete and with a couple of loose pages and some signature separation ; covers worn and scratched; overall, a quite good copy whose value is in its ownership rather than condition and clearly a well read book used by children.
