• Comments: The NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies was set up as a New York Branch of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in 1961 by Dr Robert Jastrow. In 1987 – the publication date of this booklet, the Institute was primarily concerned with Global change using data from remote sensing and weather satellites. The picture on the front and back cover is the Earth’s cloud cover over the oceans as photographed by Apollo 11.
