Original 1894 5 1/8 inch x 7 7/8 inch Chromolithograph titled BHARAL.
The bharal or Himalayan blue sheep or naur (Pseudois nayaur) is a caprid found in the high Himalayas of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and Pakistan. Bharals are sheep whose coats have a bluish tint which makes them almost invisible against the rocks of the Himalayas. This vanishing trick, together with the ability to bolt and hide in the rugged cliffs, enable bharal to escape the snow leopards and wolves that hunt the area..
