Patent No. 26,673 A.D.1903 "Improvements in Valves and Valve-gear of Explosion Motors"
"I, Firmin Bruckert, Engineer, of Rousies near Maubeuge (Nord) in the Republic of France, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: The present invention relates to explosion motors and consists in the arrangement of the distributing valve gear in such a manner that the fuel supply and the exhaust are controlled by means of a single valve, the amount of the charge and consequently the compression and exhaust being constant whereas the composition of the mixture is regulated by controlling the ratio in which fuel and air are admitted.."
