Patent No. 26,259 A.D.1903 "Improvements in Apparatus or Means for Regulating or Governing the Speed of Engines Employed in Driving Electric Current Generators".

"I, James Yate Johnson, of 47 Lincolns Inn fields, in the County of London, Gentleman, do hereby declare the nature of this invention (which has been communicated to me from abroad by The Elektrizitats-Aktien-Gesellschaft vormals W. Lahmeyer & Co., of 45 Hochsterstrasse, Frankfort-on-the-Maine in the German Empire) and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: The object of this invention is to provide in connection with the governors of engines employed for driving electric current generators an electrical device for accelerating or retarding the said governor in its controlling action..."
