"Alice Georgiana Stevens of Milfrod Lodge, The Shrubbery, Grove Road, Southsea, in the County of Southampton, Lady, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: My invention relates to a new or improved device for use in handling cake, bread-and-buitter or the like, and has for its object to provide means whereby slices...can be readily lifted from the place to the mouth of a person, without risk of soiling or by smearing the hands or gloves of the individual emplying such means..."
