"I, Heinrich Siling of Ahlen, Westphalia, in the Empire of Germany, Dyer, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: Tar has been used for a long time for the preservation of all kinds of building material, and stone, iron and would have been rpotected against atmospheric influences by a coating of this substance. For stone and wall work, and such like, which are exposed to the effects of acid fumes a coating of tar is recommended; in chemial works such coatings are of old established use..."
