11th Century King/Lord/Rich Gentleman

  When the Normans came to Britain in 1066, along with their culture, they brought with them their fashions.

 Cast by me from fine quality bisque porcelain, this early Norman gentleman has reddish hair in the typical hairstyle of the era.

He is dressed in the style of the day for a very wealthy man. He wears a short silk V neck tunic embellished with braid and tied at the waist with a knotted leather belt. You can just see the high neck and lower sleeves of his dark green under tunic.

A short but fancy silk cloak is fixed to his shoulders with golden jewelled ‘brooches’ and around his head is a simple golden band to depict his high status. On one finger is a golden and black crystal ‘ring’.

Under his tunic are silk ‘brays’ (early loose fitting trousers) laced from ankle to knee with crossed bands of braid, and on his feet are real leather ankle boots with turned over cuffs.

  This doll stands approx six inches tall.

 This doll has a porcelain head, torso, lower arms, and lower legs with a wired, soft and partially pose-able body. This doll is an ornament intended for adult collectors and should not be given to children to play with.
