Some Information About kentallpines

Giving you a little more insight into the seller.
I'm here to start a new business, selling stamps, coins, banknotes, and other collectables. I've got five years experience selling in cyberspace with a +282 feedback and not a single negative!
When I was a teenager, I had a stamp collecting friend who was retired and mentored many a young collector. Bill Hathaway sold stamps from the parlor in his home. He would spend a whole afternoon, teaching you things about stamps. He didn't make much profit on his sales, but he loved what he did. He encouraged me to join, and become involved in our local stamp club.
He has long since passed on, but I know that he would be pleased to know that I'm going to try to do the same for other new collectors. That is how I will operate my stores, just like he always did.
Any questions about stamps, not directly related to a listing of mine, are always welcome.  I may not be able to offer you warm cookies like Mrs. Hathaway used to, but I hope you will still feel at home here.

My Business Model
Most of my stock will be small packets of 1-25 stamps.  I want to make most of them affordable to everyone, and yet have a few unusual items for specialists in the mix also.  Most will be in the price range of 20¢ thru several dollars.
I will always ship stamps in glassine envelopes, that are new and not marked up, so that you can re-use them for sorting your stamps.  A piece of cardstock will be included to stiffen each one.
I soak most used stamps to clean off dirt and hinge residue, and rinse multiple times until the water is sparkling clean, and then they are dried in a press, so when done they will be post office fresh, even tho canceled.

Terms:
I expect to be paid within 5 business days of your receiving my combined shipping invoice, unless you e-mail to ask for more time, or I will re-list the items and open a non-payment case, as is standard business practice.
I will combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please wait to pay until invoiced for orders of two or more items.
I will accept PayPal, postal money orders, personal checks, cash (small purchases only please).  Always contact me with info regarding your order for shipping discount.
If for whatever reason you feel I did not earn your positive feedback, contact me before leaving a negative and I will do whatever will make your shopping experience a good one.
I would much rather lose a sale, than to have a less than delighted buyer.
I will strive to ship your items within 48 hours of receipt of payment (+ check clearing), but never more than 5 business days.  I accept returns, if you are not happy with your purchase for any reasonable cause.
I don't sell stamps on approval, so please make sure to read my auction description, and contact me for questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question.  We are all beginners sometime, and I have heard many experienced collectors who clearly have no clue what-is-what.
If you have special interests in collecting, pass them along, so I can try to add something just for you.  I have around 130,000 (and growing) stamps to sort and list, so this will take quite a while.  This month alone I purchased bulk lots of over 25,000 stamps!  If I know of something you need I can shift to a different country or topic and try to find it.

About Me:
I would like to get to know you as a fellow collector, so tell me about your collection and what you enjoy most about stamp collecting, or whatever else interests you.
I'm a world-wide collector, but only collect 1970's or older.  I use the Scott International Vol 1-7, The Scott National Specialized, including revenues and postal stationary.  I also have about 20 volumns of Scott Speciality single country albums, for about 50% coverage of the world.  My albums fill a three shelf bookcase, but I have only 20,000 different stamps mounted in them.  My favorite countries are UK, USSR, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, British Colonies, French Colonies.
I live in the middle of Manistee National Forest, a huge recreational area, for hunters and fishermen.  My home was previously only used for hunting on weekends. My closest neighbor that lives year-around is 1.25 miles away, and my mail box is 3/4 miles away.
White-tailed deer and wild Turkey are everywhere back in these woods.  Yes I have a phone, electric lights, and a car, but no gas heating, only a woodstove.  I cut wood during the spring about 2-3 days a week for several months.

Discounts:

Stamps:
    1) I never grade stamps by the 0%-90%+ system, nor by the fine, very fine, or other terminologies.  These are just stamps, not rare (usually) and great material for beginners.  When I spot a fancy cancel, or a color shade I will list it and point out to the specialists out there so they can enjoy also.  I always point out all defects or even minor flaws such as centering or hinge marks.
    2) I usually ship each lot in it's own new glassine envelope, without writing or markings, so you can use them for sorting your own collection.  Inside of these envelopes is the writing printed on cardstock, to help stiffen and protect your stamps.
    3) If you purchase two lots at the same time the second lot will be shipped for free.  Additional lots (3 or more) will ship for 25¢ each.  So if you purchased 5 items then; $1.50 + free + 25¢ + 25¢ + 25¢ = $2.25 S&H.  Please note S&H, doesn't just cover postage, but my envelopes, labels, and my time and gas to get to mailbox, my mailbox is ¾ mile from my house!  This discount is available only if they are not paid for separately using PayPal, so if you intend to buy more than one item, wait to pay until you receive my invoice which will show all discounts available.

Coins:
    1) I never ship coins in holders.  Holders are only used by most dealers for more expensive items.  Remember I'm selling to a market of beginner collectors.  I do not grade coins, but will describe in plain language that beginners can understand, the condition of the coin.  I will also provide good scans of the coins that will show any flaws that are present.  I always use a sharpen filter for my scans, because this will more clearly show detail, including all wear & flaws.
    2) If you purchase two lots at the same time the second lot will be shipped for free.  Additional lots (3 or more) will ship for 35¢ each.  So if you purchased 5 items then; $1.75 + free + 35¢ + 35¢ + 35¢ = $2.80.  This discount is available only if they are not paid for separately using PayPal, so if you intend to buy more than one item, wait to pay until you receive my invoice which will show all discounts available.

Banknotes:
    1) Banknotes are often in uncirculated condition and therefore must be shipped flat and protected from folding, which means more packing material and more weight, and a higher S&H cost.
    2) If you purchase more than one item I will discount S&H on your purchase.  I will ship the first item for $2, and the second item for free. Additional items (3 or more) will ship for 50¢ each.  If you purchased 6 notes at the same time then; $2 + free + 50¢ + 50¢ + 50¢ + 50¢ = $4.00.  This discount is available only if they are not paid for separately using PayPal, so if you intend to buy more than one item, wait to pay until you receive my invoice which will show all discounts available.
    3) I always ship a banknote in a zip-top bag with a stiff cardboard cut to size and inserted in the zip-top bag.

Jewellery:
    1) I ship all jewellery in Jiffy bags (bubble packs), or wrap them in bubble wrap and insert into manila mailers.  I always inspect the item, one last time to ensure that it is the same good condition as when first assembled.
    2) Vintage jewellery from estate sales, is always dipped into 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and washed in Dawn dish detergent to remove any dirt or contamination.  This is very important for earrings that are on ear posts, otherwise germs and dirt could get into your piercing and cause an infection to occur.
    3) I never use metal polishes on old pieces.  I don't know much about antique jewellery except that, if you remove any patina on the metal, to make it look like new, you destroy much of it's antique value.
    4) I will combine shipping charges as follows; first item $2.75, second one free and additional items $1.  So 5 pieces of jewellery would be $2.75 + free + $1 + $1 + $1 = $5.75, or a little over a dollar per item!  This discount is available only if they are not paid for separately using PayPal, so if you intend to buy more than one item, wait to pay until you receive my invoice which will show all discounts available.

Other Collectables:
    1) If you purchase collectables and select more than one item, contact me with a list of what items you have selected and how you intend to pay, PayPal, postal money order, personal check, or cash (
small purchases only please).  I will then invoice you, and include both discounts that you may be eligible for.
    2) I can't specify an exact discount on S&H for collectables, like I can for stamps.  Stamps are thin and very small and don't weigh very much.  Collectables can be a heavy book or an antique bookmark, or a hat pin.  So until I know what all your selected items are, it is not possible to estimate.  Please look on my "all about the seller" page to get an idea of how I discount other things like stamps, coins, and jewellery.
