YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL 1934 The Wampas Baby Stars 10x8 LOBBY CARD

Original British 10 inch by 8 inch Front-of-House Still (Lobby Card) of THE WAMPAS BABY STARS in the 1934 Joseph Santley Romantic Comedy YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL.

The WAMPAS Baby Stars was a promotional campaign sponsored by the United States Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers, which honored thirteen (fifteen in 1932) young women each year whom they believed to be on the threshold of movie stardom. They were selected from 1922 to 1934, and annual awardees were honored at a party called the "WAMPAS Frolic". Those selected were given extensive media coverage. The awards were not given in 1930 and 1933. They ended after 1934, due to objections from the movie studios because of the independence of the advertisers in promoting people different from those the studios wanted to raise.
The Wampas Baby Stars in 1934 were Judith Arlen, Betty Bryson, Jean Carmen, Helen Cohan, Dorothy Drake, Jean Gale, Hazel Hayes, Ann Hovey, Neoma Judge, Lucille Lund, Lu Ann Meredith, Gigi Parrish, Jacqueline Wells and Katherine Williams.

The Still is in very good condition with minor surface marks and a pinhole in each corner. Watercolour paint has been added to the reverse so that the still would show up in colour when set in a light box. This does not affect the image in any way
