Seller's Description
This is a very rare bowl in the Duke pattern by Wild Bros. The pattern number is 2206. This is a deep bowl with gentle scallops around the outside and on the rim. It is white with an art nouveau style floral pattern in shades of rust, green and black. There is gold trim around the rim and the foot of the bowl. The Wild Bros. crown hallmark is on the bottom (see closeup above).
This bowl measures about 5-5/8" across the rim and stands about 3" high. This is an estate piece. I am not sure about its function, but it is probably a small serving bowl. The gold trim is in very good condition and I see no chips, cracks, crazing or other flaws. It appears to have been very gently treated.
Wild Bros. was out of Longton, a southern district of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. They were china manufacturers who operated out of the Edensor Crown China Works and the Salisbury Crown China Works from 1904 to 1927. The hallmark seen on this piece suggests a manufacturing date before 1922. I am not an expert, so if you have any further information, I'd be grateful!
