zx657   Antique postcard of the West African Government Nigerian Steam Boat "Ivy" circa 1904 publishing date which I have information also sourced from the wwb (see below) - it has a little aging including mild border fading but only slight - light corner impressions from former album storage - one small whiting area to top border - graded very good plus unused condition.

In 1904 the Government ship "Ivyu" was sent home for repairs, the cost of which amounted to over £12, 500. The annual upkeep of this vessel was about £7,500 and her original cost was some £60,000." According to one source, it was "built and engined by Earle's Shipbuilding and engineering Co., Limited. Hull [England] 1895 from the designs of Messrs J. Thomson and Sons, London, for the Royal Niger Coast Protectorate.
