VINTAGE WILTON PEWTER DISPLAY PLATE GREAT SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Undated, but circa 1970s.  As the United States approached its bicentennial in 1976, a plethora of items representing the country's history became available.

The silver colored plate measures 11 inches in diameter.  In black letters around the border of the plate it says:  THE GREAT SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

At the center of the plate there is a white ceramic insert about 6 inches in diameter and reproduced in color transferware it shows the obverse of the Great Seal of the United States of America, which is the national coat of arms.

The seal is bordered in green and gold.  In the center, an eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of 13 arrows in the other talon.  A red, white and blue shield is over the middle of the bird and a gold colored scroll with the motto U PLURIBUS UNUM (out of many, one) is over its head.  Above that is a glory, at its center a blue field with 13 white five-pointed stars.

The seal was first used in 1782, and was designed by Charles Thomson and William Barton.  It is still used on official documents.

This plate is styled as if it were handcrafted 200 years ago with multiple pseudo hallmarks on the bottom:  two are RWS, one is an oval mark which we can't read and the other resembles the copyright symbol of the letter c enclosed in a circle.  The 'touch mark' is the manufacturer's name: WILTON and its place of business:  COLUMBIA PA USA are also stamped on the back of the plate.

The black letters appears slightly smeared and there are little nicks or imperfections in the metal.  We believe that is part of the manufacturing design.

BUYERS LOCATED OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES - PLEASE NOTE:

Receipt of your item may be delayed if it has to go through custom inspection in your country.  Occasionally, this adds days or weeks to delivery.

Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.

Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges.

We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws.

During peak shipping times, it may take weeks to have your item clear customs.  We’ve had some items arrive in Europe in a week, but a package to South America once took six weeks to arrive!  Again, you’ll have to check with the customs office in your country if your item hasn’t been received.

Restrictions in your country may not allow us to ship certain items. 

Many countries do not allow shipments of coins or precious metals, for example.  Some media, including computer software, music CDs or DVDs may be restricted for sale outside the United States.

VHS and DVDs are formatted differently for different countries.

If you are purchasing a VHS videotape, please note the format your machine requires before you make your purchase.  Most of our tapes are NTSC format (it is specified in the listing what the format is) which will not work in most video players in Europe and Australia.  We routinely contact anyone overseas who purchases a VHS video to ask them to check if their machine can play an NTSC tape before we ship. 

Many DVDs also have a specific format by country.  If you are purchasing a DVD, please make sure the DVD is a format that will play in your machine.

We’ve found our “stolen” photographs and text on other e-commerce websites many times.  In order to help reduce fraud and image theft, you’ll notice that most of our photographs have our logo or other label appearing on each image which obscures a small part of the item. 

It is possible that anyone who uses stolen images or text may not even have the item they are trying to sell and that their intention is to defraud you.  We don’t want anyone to use our images or text to try and sell you something they don’t have.
