Vintage Mason Bronze Bronzed Baby Shoe Shoes Bookends












Here is an absolutely stunning set of bronzed baby shoe bookends!  The shoes have been dipped in copper and have a rich copper color (not as gold as they look in the photos).  Each shoe measures about 4-1/2" in length and sits on a dark polished wooden base that measures about 6-1/2" x 3".  The base is trimmed with a scalloped bronze design around the bottom.  The inner handles of the bookends (that support the books) are quite heavy and made of metal.  They have an ornate carved appearance and are also bronze in color.  The bottom of each bookend is covered in green felt and marked with "A Mason Masterpiece, Boston, Mass."  These bookends are heavy; each one weighs about two pounds.   
 
I am not sure of the age of these bookends, as I could not find any information about Mason bronzed baby shoes.  There is some deterioration of the black coating inside the shoes, which leads me to believe they are fairly old....maybe 1940's or 50's.  With the exception of the interior flaking and dust, these bookends are in excellent condition.  They are beautifully made with obvious top quality workmanship.  They would make an adorable and classic addition to a nursery, a library or any room's decor!
