Vintage Broom Straw Doll 6-1/2” tall Straw Hat Basket of Flowers Red Ribbons
Doll has severe ink (or black paint) damage
A vintage broom straw doll wearing a straw hat and carrying a basket of flowers. Her dress, hat and flowers are adorned with red ribbons. She has something black sprayed on her but I have scraped a bit of it off the straw parts, with my fingernail but not where it is on the ribbon or bottom. I thought it was ink or paint, but now I am not so sure. With a bit of TLC this old doll might clean right up.
The doll is 6-1/2 inches tall X 2-1/2” wide X 2-1/2” deep (16.5 X 6.4 X 6.4 cm) (including the hat and the basket). This doll weighs 30 grams.
This doll came in a box of Corn Husk Dolls that I bought at an auction. They were selling of the contents of a small museum, located in a campground, not too far from where I live. Most of the items from the auction were from the 1800’s to the 1950’s. Unfortunately I do not have any idea of the vintage of this particular Doll nor of her history.
The dolls are stored in poly bags and will be wrapped in tissue paper then bubble pack of foam sheeting and shipped in a small box.
