Ultra Rare 1944 U.S. ARMED FORCES HANDICRAFT BOOKLET # 9: CARTOONING! $150.00 SHIPPED!!
There is precious little information online for this incredibly Rare Booklet...and some of that info in incorrect! This 6 3/4" tall x 4 1/2" across 17 page Booklet was published by Popular Mechanics Magazine for sole use and distribution to U.S. Armed Service personnel ONLY and was never available to the general public. This was created in 1944, NOT 1945 , as one site speculated. This is proven on page 5 of the pamphlet in the "Drawing Mouth & Hair, Jaws and Hats" section! Many speculate which Artists besides the "House" Artists of Popular Mechanics may have been involved...and this is speculation, but many of the characters appear to have been illustrated by Plastic Man Creator Jack Cole, as was mentioned by one site that reviewed this Booklet. Again, this is speculation.
There are 17 pages that cover all aspects of becoming a Cartoonist from drawing Faces, Clothes, expressions, Racial stereotypes of the 1940's, the Female figure, Hands and Feet, Animals and a lot more!
ALL pages are here and complete, but both front cover and back cover corners are missing. This is the ONLY ONE FOR SALE ONLINE, stating the obvious...this is literally never seen for sale by either a private seller of bigger comics' shop.
