Mykolaiv is a city on a wave. The city of shipbuilders and Heroes. The city that russian troops repeatedly tried to occupy. Due to the feat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the citizens of Mykolaiv, the city survived and stopped the enemy invasion, protecting the south of our country. After Ukrainian troops forced the enemy back to Kherson, Mykolaiv, which had been damaged but not conquered, gradually returned to life: railroad service, electricity, water, and heat supply were restored.
On 24 March 2022, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Mykolaiv the honorary title of Hero City of Ukraine. The postage stamp of the Cities of Heroes series features the building of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration after a russian missile strike on 29 March, 2022; the margins of the sheet of stamps depicts the statue of St. Nicholas, whom the city residents consider to be their guardian angel and patron saint; on the envelope there are tire fortifications near the building of the city's former first tram substation.
