Seller's Description

Original 35 inch x 24 inch Engraving titled THE TUILERIES, PARIS.

This engraving shows a view of the Tuileries Palace, a royal and imperial palace in Paris which stood on the right bank of the River Seine. It was the usual Parisian residence of most French monarchs, from Henry IV to Napoleon III, until it was burned by the Paris Commune in 1871.

Engraving by Thomas Allom (1804 – 1872). An English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects.

From The Illustrated London News September 3rd, 1859

The engraving is in good condition with one horizontal fold and 3 vertical folds. There are a few short tears around the edges and it has slightly yellowed with age.
