Overall condition is acceptable. Though a children's book, it does take place in France during World War Two. Artwork by William Pène du Bois. The front cover has heavy edge wear, creasing along the spine, creasing along the outer edge, dog ear creasing in the upper and lower right corners, and above average shelf wear. The back cover has heavy edge wear, edge chipping, scuff marks, creasing along the spine, creasing in the upper and lower left corners, and above average shelf wear. The spine has heavy edge wear, chipping, but has no vertical creases. The former owner's name is written on the first page, scratched out, then another owner's name written below it. Interior pages have discolored with age.
