Seller's Description
uk28x A most specialist undated but circa 1980s postcard of this tapestry for author John Bunyan who was born in Elstow Bedfordshire in 1628. During 1653, encouraged by John Gifford Pastor Of The Bedford Meeting, he began preaching. On the restoration of the Monarchy in 1660 Bunyan's conformity led to conflict with the law and many years in prison. While in Gaol he wrote The Pilgrims Progress which was published in 1678. This card is a collage worked by Needlewomen from the Bedford area to the designs of the Nuns Of Cockfosters which full details of the work are on reverse and it is unused and mint.
