Lugosi, Karloff, Chaney (Lon, not Dick), they are all here among hundreds of photographs from movies through the 60's. Browsing thorough the 240 pages you catch the old heroes as well, in their perpetual struggles with evil guys. How many of these can you picture in your old-movies memory file? William Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy), Wallace Beery, Humphrey Bogart, Jack Palance, Basil Rathbone (the bad guy in 'Robin Hood'), Greta Garbo. Yes some of them reach way back: Chaplin, Mary Astor, Barbara Stanwyck, Charles Boyer.

The book has a great two-part index: A General Index where you can look up text or photograph entries by movie title or actor, and a Picture Index by actor only. Some of the entries in the Picture index bring back memories: Brigitte Bardot, Marlon Brando, James Cagney, Kirk Douglas, Dan Duryea (real bad guy), Rita Hayworth, George Raft... the list goes on. Then there are The Monsters. Scenes from the very first Frankenstein (1910) to all those other classics: Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, King Kong, From Hell It Came (a walking tree is the monster), The Time Machine (remember the Morlocks?), The Body Snatchers, The Ape Man, among others.
