Diamond-shaped Free datestamp with Crown above date. Dated 28 November 1881. Datestamp used in Launceston 1855-1885. Cover signed, as per regulation, by the then-Mayor of Launceston, Adye Douglas (later Premier of Tasmania).
Arrival datestamp for Hobart 29 Nov 1881.
One end aged where exposed to elements when used as a bookmark for 100+ years in Government Printers office, Hobart!
