The Fender Stratocaster is an icon that has conquered the world. The Strat was as radical as the music it created and - from Buddy Holly to Jimi Hendrix, Hank Marvin to Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton to the Beach Boys - the list of artists whose name is synonymous with this guitar is endless. "The Story of the Fender Stratocaster" traces the history of the guitar from its beginnings in 1954 through conversations with the all-time great players. These are the people who have inspired generations of music lovers; they tell why they choose this particular make of guitar, what makes it so special for them, and discuss their own particular sounds and playing techniques.
Bob Young was on the road with Status Quo for 13 years as their songwriter/ harmonica player/tour manager. He co-wrote many of their classic songs and has also written three books, several plays and many more songs. Ray Minhinnett is a guitarist who received the 1990 award for Best British Blues song and in 1991 was nominated by the British Blues Foundation for the Best British Blues Guitarist. The authors have written, arranged and produced the music for many film, radio and TV themes and written jingles for many TV advertisements.
