Seller's Description
This 1" tall silver-plated vintage medal depicts Saint Andrew, patron of Scotland, and also Russia and Greece. Saint Andrew, one of Jesus' disciples, was martyred by the Romans on an x-shaped cross and is usually depicted with a crucifix. The x-shaped cross in the Scottish flag reflects this association. A portion of his remains are thought to have been brought to Scotland and there are many legends explaining how this happened.
The reverse of the medal bears the inscription "St. Andrew Pray For Us" Italy. There is some wear to the silver-plate on this side.
