Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1959 King Vidor Biblical Drama SOLOMON AND SHEBA, based on the story by Crane Wilbur and starring Yul Brynner, Gina Lollobrigida, George Sanders, Marisa Pavan, David Farrar and Harry Andrews.

After becoming king of ancient Israel, Solomon faces threats coming from his jealous dispossessed brother Adonijah, the Egyptian Pharaoh and the scheming Queen of Sheba.

Symeon Shimin, noted artist and illustrator of children’s books, was born in Astrakhan, Russia on the Caspian Sea in 1902. His family immigrated to the United States ten years later. He worked as a freelance commercial artist and briefly studied in the studio of artist George Luks, although he was primarily self taught Early in his career, Shimin painted large scale posters for Hollywood films, including creating the original poster for the film “Gone With the Wind” (1939).
