Sofia University, "St. Kliment Ohridski" at the University of Sofia, (Bulgarian: Софийски университет „Св. Климент Охридски“, Sofijski universitet „Sv. Kliment Ohridski“) is the major Bulgarian capital university and the oldest higher education institution in Bulgaria.

The University was made opened for studies on 1 October 1888 after the Liberation of Bulgaria, the edifice of the university was additionally constructed between 1924 and 1934 with the financial support of the brothers Evlogi Georgiev and Hristo Georgiev (whose sculptures are now featured on its façade) and are considered university guardians and study protectors.

The current rector is Anastas Gerdzhikov, professor in Bulgarian language.
