Silverado is a 1985 American Western film produced and directed by Lawrence Kasdan. The screenplay was written by Kasdan and his brother Mark. The film depicts a chance encounter between a group of cowboys who travel to the town of Silverado, where they thwart the plans of a ruthless rancher and a corrupt sheriff. It features an ensemble cast, including Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, John Cleese, and Brian Dennehy. A good example of a modern version of the great western!

This Collector's Edition has a 10-minute documentary on the making of the film on VHS and interviews with writer-director Lawrence Kasdan and star Kevin Kline were done at the same time, but there's not the same retrospective feel. Still, some background footage on the building of the Silverado town set and the weapons expert who trained the actors is good stuff for any fan of the film. The widescreen VHS tape, available for the first time, is recommended since many shots (the opening, Costner's final shootout) simply don't play well on the pan-and-scan version.
