Original 1841 9 1/8 inch x 6 1/8 inch Etching and Engraving titled THE RING
The image depicts Sir Robert Carey asleep in an inn as a young Scottish girl steals the ring that he was to present to James I as evidence that Queen Elizabeth I has died.

Engraved by Lumb Stocks (1812 - 1892). An English engraver. In a long career he produced engravings from paintings by notable artists of the day.

After Edward Henry Corbould (1815 - 1905). A British artist, noted as a historical painter and watercolourist.

Published on October 1st, 1841, by Longman & Co., Paternoster Row, London

The engraving is in very good condition with minor foxing. Reverse side blank.
