Rare 1st Ed. Book - Lara, A Tale; Jacqueline, A Tale - By Byron & Rogers 1814

Rare 1st edition poetry book 'Lara, a tale / Jacqueline, a tale' printed for J. Murray Albemarle Street by T. Davison, Whitefriars in 1814. There is a pencilled note on an end paper dated 1943 which says 'Byron 1788 -1824, left Cambridge 1808. Samuel Rogers 1763 -1855. Jacqueline was written in 1814. This must be a first edition being published anon. because Byron was at that time in disgrace'. The book is beautifully bound, half leather with marbeled paper, although well worn on the spine and corners and discoloured. It has a sticker at the top of the front board and a label inside with the name 'Henry Rowland Grandreth'. One end paper has been removed but the book is still firmly bound. There are a couple of ink blots on the bottom edge. Still a delightful old book. Length 16.25cms, width 10cms, 128 pages.
