Original 1851 7 inch x 5 inch engraving titled RAMSGATE.
Harbour view in storm, seen from the sea, with brig on choppy waves in the right foreground, quay behind, lighthouse on the left.
Drawn by Edward William Cooke (1811 - 1880). Draughtsman, illustrator, wood engraver, etcher and painter of rural and coastal scenes in oil and watercolour. Engraved by William Finden (1787 - 1852). Line engraver, worked in London. Older brother of Edward, and worked together as engravers and publishers.
From the ‘Cyclopaedia of Useful Arts & Manufactures’ edited by Charles Tomlinson and Published by George Virtue & Co,, London & New York (1851).
