Main features:
- Cover Story: Waterman Railways Livery Revealed. The first Class 47 locomotive to be painted in the black colour scheme of Waterman Railways is Res-owned Class 47/7 No.47710, one of six nominated to transfer to Pete Waterman for charter work in April next year. Prepared at The Railway Age, Crewe, the locomotive was named Lady Godiva at Coventry Station on June 28 by the Lord Mayor of Coventry. Below: the intricate Waterman Railways crest and the three piece nameplate fitted to No.47710.
- Cover Picture: The public appearance of the new Waterman Railways livery was not on Lady Godiva but on privately owned Class 20 No.20188 which took part in the East Lancs Diesel Week. It is pictured outside Castlecroft Road shed, Bury on June 28.
- News: Police launch murder inquiry after train hits trackside obstructions and two die; 'The Capitals Mail' leaves the track at Morpeth; more problems face West Midlands commuters; Northampton loco-hauled 'Cobbler' service returns; fire hits Cardiff Central Station; CrossRail petition attracts 245 MPs' signatures; Ellesmere Port station opens; Wallyford station joins the ScotRail network and Railfreight Distribution stages an event to officially launch European freight services.
