Seller's Description

Original 1771 6 1/8 inch x 10 7/8 inch copper plate engraving titled PROSPECT OF THE SENATE HOUSE, THE NEW LIBRARY, ST. MARY’S CHURCH, &C. IN CAMBRIDGE.

The building, which is situated in the centre of the city between King's and Gonville and Caius Colleges, was designed by architect James Gibbs.

After Peter Spendelowe Lamborn (1722 - 1774). An English engraver, architectural draughtsman and miniature painter. He engraved two sets of views of university buildings in Cambridge.

From ‘The complete English Traveller; a new survey and Description of England and wales. Containing a full Account of whatever is curious and entertaining in the several Counties of England and Wales, The Isles of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, and other islands adjoining to, and dependant on the Crown of Great Britain’ by Nathaniel Spencer.
