Strength of the audio video division lies in he worldwide acceptance of Ampex products. 76 out of the 90 video-tape recorders used by ABC and other foreign networks during the Olympic games were Ampex machines. Why cover news with film and have to wait for processing the transfer to tape, when you can put it on tape initially and its is immediately available for broadcast. He also developed the broadcast-cartirdge machine.
