Original 1878 6 1/2 inch x 9 7/8 inch engraving titled THE PRISONER
A seated, loosely robed woman with long braided hair, caressing her bird above a silver plate of what appears to be bird feed.
Engraved by Auguste Danse (1829 - 1929). Belgian line engraver, later turned to etching and interpretative engraving; worked mainly in Brussels.
From the painting by Antoine Bourlard (1826 - 1899). A Belgian painter.
Published in the Art Journal by J.S. Virtue & Co. Ltd., London.
