Preliminary data set of the 1912 War Horse Census in 78 provinces of the Empire. In Russian (ask us if in doubt)/Predvaritelnyy svod dannykh voenno-konskoy perepisi, proizvedennoy v 1912 g. V 78 guberniyakh Imperii. The Census was first conducted in 1876 in the abbreviated way in 33 provinces of the western part of Russia and yielded not entirely satisfactory results. In 1882, provisional rules on horse ownership were issued, and on the basis of these rules a census was conducted throughout European Russia. In 1888, the War Horse Census Regulation was issued, according to which the census was conducted in 1888 in 41 provinces, in 1891 in the remaining 17 and in the Caucasus.
